Conservation Services

Conservation Services
Triptych’s professional book and archive conservation team can provide assessments and treatments for your:
• books • manuscripts • maps • plans • parchment/vellum items • albums • family bibles • documents • certificates • heirlooms.
Contact us to discuss your conservation treatment and repair needs.

Conservation Service Process
After assessment, a written proposal is provided to you outlining options and costs. Conservation treatments are charged at an hourly rate of $95.00 plus GST. Your consent will be gained before any work begins. At the completion of the work a Treatment Report is produced, becoming part of the history of the item. More information on sending items safely to Triptych.  Contact us to discuss special requirements.
Conservation Consultancy
Our consultancy service includes:
• collection surveys • assessments • funding application support
• disaster salvage planning • report writing.
Conservation Goals
When planning conservation treatments for your valued items, our goals are to stabilize their condition and to retain their original integrity by using quality archival materials, techniques and conservation ethics. View Code of Ethics – New Zealand Conservators of Cultural Materials.
Conservation Examples
Examples of treatments Triptych has already carried out are:
• repair of a damaged birth certificate • a full treatment to the binding structure of a precious family bible • stabilizing repairs to a heavily used plan to allow it to be safely copied and the original retired.

Sometimes we just make an
individual custom-made enclosure for an item, which helps to prevent further damage and keep loose parts together.
